Frequently asked questions

How is prorated rent calculated?

Monthly rent is divided by a day-count basis — actual days in the month, 30 days, or 365 days a year — then multiplied by the days occupied. This site shows all three so you can compare them against your lease.

Does prorated rent count the move-in day?

On this site, yes: move-in days run from the move-in date to month-end inclusive, and move-out days run from month-start to the move-out date inclusive. Leases can use a different convention, so check yours.

Is this legal advice?

No. This is general information, not legal advice. City ordinances may be stricter and may override state rules. Check the official source for your city and state before acting.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Every calculator is free to use with no sign-up, and the site loads no external scripts, fonts, or tracking.
